We had a number of requests from users about being able to add a password so you can restrict access to your website to only your wedding guests. New Budget Planner Tool

Hi Everyone,

Recently, we've been busy recently continuing to make improvements and adding new features to SharedWeddings. Our latest addition to the list of free features is a Wedding Budget Planner. With this tool, you can categorise all of your wedding planning spending, record deposits paid, assign a due date, and make notes about each individual item. You can also export a spreadsheet of your budget planner so you can easily print off your own copy. All you have to do to access your wedding budget planner is login and click the 'Budget Planner' button at the top of the page.

We've even added a few suggested items to get you started!

Happy Wedding Planning!

Photo Uploads

Hi All,

We are aware that some users have experienced problems with uploading some of their photos onto their wedding website. We have been investigating this problem recently and found that the system has problems handling large photo uploads. I've been working on addressing this issue for the past couple of weeks and I've just completed a major upgrade of the photo upload code on SharedWeddings.

Fingers crossed, you shouldn't experience any futher problems with uploading photos of any size now. We have tested the photo uploads with very large images and it seems to be working much smoother since the upgrade.

If you experience any problem uploading photos - please leave a comment here and we'll investigate the problem immediately.

Cheers,
Thomas

New Templates and Features

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, welcome to all of our new users over the past couple of months! We continue to be surprised by just how popular SharedWeddings has become in such a short time.

We havent posted on the blog for a while so we thought we'd update you on what we've been up to over the past couple of months. As we are a relatively new wedding website, we realised that the number of templates available was pretty poor compared to some of the more established wedding website providers. So we've spent the past couple of months working hard to create many new templates - most of which have now been uploaded and are available for you to choose from. We still have a few more in the pipeline and will be putting them up over the next few weeks and months. To browse our new selection of templates go to:

http://www.sharedweddings.com/themes

Moving forward, we'd love to get your feedback on what new features you would like to see becoming available on SharedWeddings. We have setup a thread on the forums and listed some of the features that we've received requests for recently - if you'd like to join in the discussion go to:

http://www.sharedweddings.com/viewThread-14-1

I think thats all our updates for now - if you'd like to contact us then you can leave us a message on our newly created profile page.

Bye for now,
Thomas & Jacqui

Your Personal Website Address

Hi Everyone,

Have you ever wanted to tell your friends and family where to find your wedding website but found yourself trying to remember a long web address?!? Your not alone - we've had many users mention this to us as one of the most frustrating aspects of creating a wedding website.

Now we are delighted to announce the launch of our new service that allows any user to reserve their own personal web address (e.g. www.susanandjohn.com) for their SharedWeddings website. You can now check the availability of your desired personal website address and if the address has not already been taken by someone else you can reserve it for your wedding website. Once you have reserved your website address - it's easy to tell your family and friends where to find your wedding website!

To reserve your personal website address, just click on the link that appears on the right hand side of the page as you browse through your wedding website and follow the instructions given. You can choose to reserve your web address for 1, 2, or 3 years.

Do let us know if you find this service useful.

SharedWeddings on KillerStartups!

We've just learnt that SharedWeddings was reviewed on KillerStartups last week! Its great to see that we might be considered as a killer startup and we are working hard to make the site even better and roll out the list of new features that are in the pipeline……we wont reveal anything just yet but lets just say we launched SharedWeddings as early as possible with the minimal features - so watch this space for updates.

Automatic Facebook Updates

It seems that almost everyone is on Facebook these days! So one thing that we thought might be useful is that every time you make an update (e.g. new blog post, new photos, create a poll etc.) to your wedding website - a note automatically appears on your facebook profile telling your friends about the update.

So to enable this function in your Facebook profile - login to your Facebook, on the left side bar - under 'Applications', click 'more' and then 'Notes'. Once on the notes page, select the 'Import a Blog' or 'Edit Import Settings' link on the right hand side of the screen. In the text box for the web URL enter:

http://www.sharedweddings.com/rss-username

Note: you must replace the end of the URL with your own SharedWeddings username e.g. if your SharedWeddings user name is sarahandjohn - then your URL is http://www.sharedweddings.com/rss-sarahandjohn

From now on - everytime you make an update to your wedding website, it will automatically be shown in your Facebook profile - allowing your friends to go straight to the latest updates on your wedding website.

If you try out this new feature - leave us a comment below and let us know what you think of it - we’d love to hear from you!

Thomas
